>Keshi pearls are the pearls that are loved by the Human beings and rejected by the oysters or mollusks. These pearls are formed in a very unique way as compared to the other methods of pearl formation. When the piece of a shell gets trapped in the mollusk, it ensues an infection. The oyster starts healing itself by forming nacre layers on the intruding substance to prevent further irritation. Till the oyster is alive, the layers of nacre keep on forming and the result is a beautiful and divine: A Keshi Pearl.

Although, Keshi pearls have been excluded from the category of natural pearls because they are not formed naturally and is a result of the pearl culturing process; but it gives the looks and shine much better than the natural pearls. Nowadays these pearls have become exceptional and infrequent. This is because the farmers have started x-raying the oysters to find out if the nucleus is present in it or not or whether it is expelled out. If an oyster is found expelling its nucleus then they are re-nucleated before the formation of a Keshi pearl. This process has made Keshi pearls even rarer than they actually were.

But even then, Keshi pearls have always remained popular because the solid nacre imparts a very high luster and excellent quality to the pearl.
