  • If you are working near the sink the first thing you should do is make sure the plug hole is covered by a mesh or plug to prevent losing your engagement ring down the hole. Place your diamond ring in the bowl. Squeeze some dish detergent on to it. Then pour boiling water on top. Leave for a few minutes.
  • As soon as the water is cool enough for you to pick the ring up (2-3 minutes), take the toothbrush and scrub the ring thoroughly. Take time to get the bristles into all the cracks between the settings. Throw away the water in the bowl.
  • Mix some fresh boiling water with more dish detergent in the bowl and place your diamond ring back in there to soak for about ten minutes
  • Take your ring out of the bowl. Throw away the old water and rinse the bowl clean of any detergent. Put the ring back in the clean bowl and using fresh boiling water rinse the ring. Do this about three times. Then place the ring on a clean cotton cloth and allow to air dry. Do not use any kind of paper towel or tissue to dry your diamond ring as it will leave small fibre which will prevent a true sparkle.
